Archeops is one my favourite 5th gen Pokemon along with Braviary (and Mandibuzz). And it's my favourite fossil Pokemon. I love feathered dinosaurs and the archeopteryx.
I'm so glad that among those ice-creams and rubbish bags, there is something so epic like this...
I think you're improving nicely, especially with your shading. Like, well, I still rely on lines. XD Though I guess it's kinda my style. But yeah, I've seen big improvement since. I think that some of your stuff doesn't look expressive enough. I see many repeated expressions on your drawings. I don't know if that's intentional but I thought I should mention it. You manage composition better than me, I envy that. I think these will have to be my favourite out of your work: [link][link]
XD Yeah, the repetitive expressions are intentional, at least on the concept sketches and the like. Things just meant to get what a person is supposed to look like down on paper I don't give much thought to expressions, instead putting a neutral kind of look on most of the time...on painted works, that's a different story, unless that too is just supposed to show a design..for my fuller, storytelling or acting poses though, I do try to be more expressive...it's something I'm working on, thanks for mentioning it. I think one of the biggest things I need work on is non-human subjects, as I have very little experience with backgrounds/landscapes.
And some people's styles include lines, and some don't...I wouldn't consider it a marker of how good you are. I know plenty of pro artists who use lines, like or . You should give their works a look, you might learn something!
And nice choices. XD
(Though, when I said critique, I kinda meant a specific artwork, if you're up to it...I have one in mind. )
I was just looking at your finished pieces when writing this critique. I know for developmental pieces the expressions doesn't matter, unless it's the expressional development of the character, lol. Oh yeah, I didn't mention it but your gallery could be more varied. But that doesn't necessarily tell if you're good a artist of not.
Oh yeah of course, in fact I really like art with lines.
and what piece? I might critique on it if I get more time.
Mainly in subject matter as you only draw people. (though I did see some weapons and a car too) Maybe more backgrounds, animals... there's too much other stuff out there. It's good to get out of your comfort zone.
Though I think my stuff isn't varied much either. I know it's hard to get out of your comfort zone.
I could say that most peoples gallery aren't varied much as in terms of subject matter.
You do have different medium though, that's good too.
I actually over looked that pic, that's one of my faves too btw.
Ah yeah, I already know that I need to draw more things than just people. I've already started, I just don't submit it here or even scan it. I don't plan to until I see some improvement in those areas.
