Houndoom has always been one of my favourite Pokemon. I like it's unique type combination and it's pretty damn good stats in the games.
I like it's design too, very dark, cruel, badass. lol I thought a stalking pose fits the character the best.
Plus I've always liked canines.

I wanted to get the background somewhat liney, so I experimented with different brushes to get this.

I like what you did with the coloring, it reminds me of some kind of moonlight hitting him as he stalks his prey at night. however, I'm not too sure about the pose. I think that this kind of stalking pose is more for how a cat would stalk its prey as opposed to a canine. I'm going to give this example of an ethiopian wolf: [link] notice how it walks more straight, rather then arched up at its back, and also how its snout is facing forward instead of pointed downward. I think it really helps even when drawing pokemon to look at the actual animals they were based off of. Also, the fact that you included that stringy shadow at the bottom makes me want to see some sort of ground beneath him, but it seems to blend into the background as a design, so i would say either get rid of the shadow, or create some kind of ground for him to walk on.

Despite all I've said I want you to know that this is a really great piece and you got a nice dark, feeling to it, and the yellow light was a nice choice. I could totally tell what you were going for and it works nicely. :) good luck with your future endeavors and keep drawing.

This artwork shows a very deep impact. The colors show a very mysterious and creepy feeling. The way Houndoom is positioned is very bad/kickass. XD This artwork is just awesome. It cannot be described in words. People would have to see this in order to give an opinion or describe. Your vision for this is just too awesome to describe. I hope you will make more of these in the future. (This is my first time giving a critique. Sorry if it's a little hard to understand. XD Lol) As I said, This is just way too awesome. :) Good Job.

Kinda looks more cartoony than the 'dark badass' look to me, lol. Still, not bad.
